Election day and canvassing
Updated On: Feb 41, 2017
Brothers and Sisters,

We've entered the home stretch of the 2015 aldermanic election season. Together we've made endorsements in several races which have garnered a lot of attention in both the community and political circles. What's different this year, as you know, is that we have for the first time ever, the freedom to openly support and work on behalf of those candidates.
As workers vital to public safety, our political influence resides in the stellar reputation we've built over the years. That reputation is that when you call on us, we show up and get things done.

With this new political freedom we've been able to expand on that reputation and build on that influence. As an example, a prominent 7th ward committeewoman recently remarked, "It's one thing to endorse a candidate and give money. It's another to walk the walk. You guys are the best!" Similar comments have been made by the candidates, themselves, and their staffs. In short, we're doing some great things and people are taking notice. These things are crucial for us in securing the support we need to protect our interests going forward (more important now than ever).

This weekend and Tuesday (Election Day) is the endgame; the final chances to show our resolve in these races. We all know difficult tasks, and believe me, canvassing is not one of them. The Brothers and Sisters who've already joined me on the weekends can attest to that. Just a couple of hours has a huge payoff. I'm asking for everyone to please make this a maximum effort. So, just as we do when the bell hits, let's all pitch in and get this job done!

Here's who we need and when:

Canvassing (walking in groups, handing out flyers, and informing people which candidate Firefighters are supporting)
- Saturday, FEB 28: A and B-shift members
- Sunday, MAR 1: B and C-shift members

Poll workers (standing at a polling places holding a sign stating which candidate Firefighters are supporting)
- Tues, MAR 3: B and C-shift members

314-393-1738

Yours in Solidarity,
Demitris "Al" Alfred
